Setting up a 10.5.2 Server for the first time, and was hoping the Wiki would be a simple setup, but has me a bit stumped so far.

1. New install, setup as Advanced.
2. Used Directory Utilty to bind it to our current AD setup, using an AD admin user creds.
3. Set the box to be an OD Master, per the manual.
4. Able to see/authenicate againast AD users/groups OK.
5. Turned on Web service and Wiki/Blog options in Server Admin.
6. Set up an OD group (Wiki Moderators) in WGM to control, and added a couple AD users and an AD group to it, enabled the web service (the default web service for the machine, only option available) for this group, and enabled Wiki for this group.

I think that is all correct, but stumbling through it for the first time, so please tell me if I missed something.

So here is the issue: I open a browser and go to machinename.local and I see the OS X Server default page, looks OK to me. I can click on Users and Groups. In Groups, I see the OD group Wiki Moderators I created with WGM. But when I click on the Group, I get a 404 error - no group with that name hosted on this server. Also....when I click on Users, there are none available.

So, can anybody shed light on whether this is......an AD bind issue, an OD config issue, or a Wiki config issue? Something else??

TIA!

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Apr 10, 2008 10:28 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=160#p441 Bound to AD but no Home Directory http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=151#p440
by costasppc1 (Posted Mon Mar 31, 2008 6:31 pm)

Thanks for the info

The problem is that I do not use the dollar sign in the share name. So every new user logging in for the first time pulls this settings by taking over my modified defaults.

You can do so by opening the firefox.app file and editing the files in:
firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/grepprefs/all.js

This is where most of the default settings of firefox are defined.

I used this method to change the default startpage and the search url as well as to change the settings to make firefox automaticaly discover the correct proxy settings.

To change the proxy settings to auto detect i changed the following line:
pref("network.proxy.type", 2);
to:
pref("network.proxy.type", 4);

Unfortunately this method deos not work for existing users which have allready started any version of firefox and therefore their userhome allready contains preference files for firefox.

Read the main topic related to this post
Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:17 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=134#p414 WinClone Boot Camp Script http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=153#p399
by Dominic (Posted Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:58 pm)

WinClone Script for PKGImage 1.1+

This script will restore a winclone image to your Intel Mac.

Set the size of Windows Volume for it to use

The path the script uses is "Share"/BootCamp/Untitled.winclone/winclone.perl

edit this to reflect your path on the server.

See WinClone's web site to find out more on creating a copy of your bootcamp drive.

http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/

check that the "Self Extract" ARD Option is on.

You will need to copy the two Perl Folders from your 10.5 system to your 10.5 netboot image.

copy /System/Library/Perl
copy /Library/Perl

to your Netboot Server Netinstall.dmg

Read the main topic related to this post
Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:58 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=153#p399 Template Script for PKGImage 1.x http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=152#p398
by Dominic (Posted Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:55 pm)

Use the Template Script as a guide.

Updated for PKGImage 1.x

Read the main topic related to this post
Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:55 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=152#p398 Need to make PKGImage Scripts modular http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=150#p392
by Dominic (Posted Sun Feb 03, 2008 3:53 pm)

I have been working on a BootCamp script for PKGImage this weekend...and ran in to a over looked problem.

The Scripts are not modular. Its on or off...

I could have the script lookup a MAC table to see if it should run but that sort of takes away the ease of the program.

So 1.1 Update due out this week with modular scripting.

It will be the same interface as you use to select packages but choose the scripts you want as part of the Config plist file.

The script for BootCamp is using WinClone http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/ and using its ARD self extract function which works really well from PKGImage.

The only issue i have found is that Windows needs to run chkdisk on first re-boot.... So the Question: Does this need to run or can it be done silently?

Read the main topic related to this post
Sun Feb 03, 2008 3:53 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=150#p392 Hosting Issues tonight 2-02-08 http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=149#p391
by admin (Posted Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:26 am)

There have been some hosting issues tonight which I am still looking into.

The forum and website were both down for about 4 hours.

Update

It appears that a network card failure cause the site to be down from 9pm - 12pm

All resolved

Read the main topic related to this post
Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:26 am http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=149#p391 Hosting Issues tonight 2-02-08 http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=148#p390
by admin (Posted Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:25 am)

There have been some hosting issues tonight which I am still looking into.

The forum and website were both down for about 4 hours.

Update

It appears that a network card failure cause the site to be down from 9pm - 12pm

All resolved

Read the main topic related to this post
Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:25 am http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=148#p390 Creating PKG files of your Software http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=147#p388
by Dominic (Posted Sat Jan 19, 2008 4:03 pm)

PDF Write up on creating PKG files of applications to use with PKGImage, ARD and many other remote installers.

Looking at tools like LogGen, Composer, PackageMaker and Iceberg

Read the main topic related to this post
Sat Jan 19, 2008 4:03 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=147#p388 URL change http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=142#p385
by Dominic (Posted Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:29 pm)

Hummmm

noticing some errors with the RSS in duplication.

Read the main topic related to this post
Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:29 pm http://www.apple-scripts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=142#p385
